Female awareness campaigne for female participation in elections with LDDF –Democratic League for Women’s Rights (federation). Rabat, Morocco
Event organised by LDDF and supported by AMAL regarding political participation.  To support and encourage women running for local election and getting people to vote.  Standard awareness raising, held in small tent.  Women speaks in to microphone to raise issues about female involvement.

Hiba Awwad, student and youth activist, Ramallah, oPt.
Hiba is 20 years old and lives in Ramallah in the West Bank with her parents.  She comes from a simple Palestinian family.  Hiba studied economics as the all girls technical college. Hiba has received three different training programmes from AMAL.  Since the trainings Hiba now wants to pursue a career in human rights. Hiba sits outside college, Ramallah, oPt

Khadija Anzour, Muncipal Council member, Sidezounia, Morocco
Khadija was elected to the muncipal committe in 2009. She is one of two women in the council.  When she was 2 she was bitten by a scorpion and didn't receive adequate treatment quickly and was paralysed.  Many of the women are afraid because it is a conservative area and there are many old customs and traditions which prevent the women from living independently.  The AMAL training has taught her to communicate better, she has gained so much confidence.  Khadija believes that members of the council trust her now and think she is more capable as she has received this formal training.

Asama’ is 31 years old and was born and raised in Bil In village and nowadays they face many problems with the wall separation, there is more poverty, unemployment and an increase in drug addiction.  Asama works with her mother in her embroidery business and is also   AMAL supported Asama to shadow the governor of Ramallah, and to work towards becoming a young leader. Karama Ltaif, Female Activist. Sfax, Tunisia
Karama Ltaif is 27 years old and grew up in Sfax Tunisia. She joined a group of other young people and the AMAL Programme taught them about youth leadership; civil and political society; advocacy for women’s rights; humans rights.  By the end of the training she was still looking for something more, she put her new found skills to use by developing awareness campaignes for the youth through Theatre.

Karama Ltaif is 27 years old and grew up in Sfax Tunisia. She joined a group of other young people and the AMAL Programme taught them about youth leadership; civil and political society; advocacy for women’s rights; humans rights. Jabra is 62 years old and lives in Casablanca with her sick husband.  They live a simple life.  Housing is the biggest issue herself and her community face.  Often illegal evictions take place from both rentees and house owners.  The government and landlords prey on vulnerable women and push them out of their homes. AMAL have supported Jabra in fighting these eviction attempts and have represented her in court in order for to keep her home.

Her main objective is to help the poor percentage of people and enable them to work towards a better future.  AMAL programme through their trainings has changed her life, now she feels like the commitee take her seriously and she has learned a lot.

She received AMAL training in women’s laws, lobbying, activism, communicating with the media, developing youth groups.
