Maternity Afghanistan

A series of images taken in the north of the Afghanistan in Balkh province. This remote areas has very limited access to healthcare with many cultural taboos preventing women from seeking medical advice. These images where taken late at night when a local clinic supported by HealthProm assisted a young women pregnant with her first baby to the clinic and a safe delivery. With only one maternity nurse, one working light and torches available the child was safely delivered early that morning.
