DISABILITY KYRGYZSTAN & TAJIKISTAN HEALTH PROM
Worked across institutions in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to photograph children with disabilities. Disability is often misunderstood in Central Asia, families can be blamed for children who are born with disabilities, ostracised from communities and often results in children being put up for adoption. Many families struggle to get support for both them and their children. Health Prom a small UK based charity works across Central Asia and has set up support groups to help these families and children improve and cope with everyday life. Health Prom also work closely with these orphanages creating activities such as music therapy and counselling for the health workers and children.
